Skandamata: The Fifth Goddess Worshiped On Fifth Day Of Navratri.

Skandamata Devi is the 5th out of nine forms of Durga. In nine days Navratri, she holds a special place and worship of her gives prosperity, happiness and peace. Skanda is also known by the name of Kartikeya, the meaning of the same is, the war god.

Skandamata is also known by the name of Kartikeya, the meaning of the same is, the war god. The Maa Durga received this name after she gave birth to Kartikeya.

Her idolized form is mesmerizing, she carries Lord Skanda on her lap, her one hand remains in the blessing position, other and has a lotus and she rides a lion.

Her complexion is white. She also called as “The Goddess of Fire  ”. She awards salvation, power, treasures and prosperity to her devotees. She is kind of heart and bless everyone.

According to mythological legends, while venerating her, the devotee should keep their senses in full control and keep themselves free from worldly bondage. It is said, when an individual worship Skand Mata, s/he is blessed twice. The individual receives the blessings of lord kartikeya as well, who is in the lap of Maa. The Skandamata reverence purifies the devotee’s heart. And worshipping her with pure heart gives salvation.  Skand Mata governs the planet mercury, and she adores the yellow color. That is why people wear yellow color clothes on the fifth day of Navratri.

She is known by the name of Padmasana as well  and her favorite flower is Yellow rose. The favorite Prasad of Skandamata is Banana. Skandamata mantra is “Om Devi Skandamatayai Namah”.  Worship her chanting this mantra.
